Walk-up with Dogs · Pheasant
Ideal, South Dakota
Guided walk-up pheasant hunting behind seasoned labs on the Jorgensen family's farm and ranch ground in the heart of South Dakota's Golden Triangle. Twenty thousand huntable acres means a week's party never covers the same cover twice, and the whole thing runs out of a 22-room lodge with a chef in the kitchen.

Twenty thousand huntable acres in the heart of the Golden Triangle, walked behind Orvis-endorsed guides and their dogs. A party hunting a full week does not cover the same ground twice.
The habitat is not a put-and-take operation bolted onto a farm; it is a by-product of how the Jorgensens farm. They have built the whole operation around soil health, and the bird numbers follow from it. They have been hosting sportsmen here since 1983, and more than 2,000 hunters have taken over 15,000 birds since 2012.
After the first week of the season, shooting hours run from 10am to sunset so the birds can feed undisturbed in the morning. South Dakota law requires one visible piece of blaze orange; the lodge supplies shooting glasses and ear protection. Bring your own dog if you like, there is an indoor kennel. Birds are cleaned, breasted, vacuum-sealed and frozen for you to fly home.
The lodge takes 22 in single rooms or 42 shared, with meeting space, and corporate parties of 15 to 40 are their stated speciality.
The South Dakota hunting licence is included and the lodge obtains it for you before you arrive. Guide and lodge staff gratuities are not included.
